How results are ranked

Compare rankings and their passage evidence

Keyword finds literal matches. Smart reads the query together with up to two passages from each of the top 50 keyword works. Hybrid also retrieves passages using learned term weights, combines both lists by reciprocal rank fusion, then applies the local reranker when available. Each work ranks by its strongest passage.

References and index entries carry less weight in All text. Quoted phrases, field filters and Boolean queries keep their keyword meaning. Models run locally. Section labels are inferred from PDF text. Page links use physical PDF page numbers.
